Money for Cancer

Welcome to my blog! I am starting this as a mission that I have for cancer patients.

In the last few years I have had some close friends pass away due to cancer. It is the most frustrating thing to see someone you love and respect deal with the pain they suffer from the medications and from the disease itself. What do you say? What can you do? The helplessness is at times unbearable, but the question that keeps coming to my mind is, what can I do?

So in thinking about this for a while, I decided on a plan. Last year I ran a couple of half marathons and decided that my goal is to run one in every state. I have Kansas, Illinois, Florida, and DC (a full marathon) already in the bag. This weekend is Dallas. ROCK AND ROLL BABY! BUt what was the purpose? Just selfish, I guess. To see if I can do it. So, I thought, what can I do that makes this goal have a purpose, and this is what I decided. Each year I would like to find someone who is dealing with cancer and get donations to give to that individual for that year. It may be enough to help with groceries or enough to help with some bills, but whatever it amounts to, I want to be able to give, not to an organization, but to some individual......someone who gets all of the donations to use as they feel it can best benefit them.

Now, this is going to take a few years.....I'm not getting any younger! But if you feel you could make a pledge and repledge every year until my goal is met, it would be much appreciated! I know everyone is feeling the money crunch. That is why this is difficult for me to do, but it is something that I feel I can do for someone who not only has the burden of the everyday, but the burden of being sick on top of it all.
